Bloomberg reported on the 5th that Apple in the U.S. hired Tesla engineers from the U.S. electric vehicle (EV) giant to accelerate car development.Apple reportedly invited Christopher Moore to join the self-driving car development team.Apple and Tesla did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment. At Tesla, Moore said something that Elon Musk would point out was exaggerating the capabilities of autopilot software. Earlier this year, officials from the California Automotive Agency (DMV) interviewed Moore as part of an investigation into autonomous driving software. Here, Moore said Musk’s claim to Autopilot “does not match engineering reality.”

A few weeks ago, Doug Field, who led Apple’s auto development division, moved to Ford Motor Company’s high-tech division. Apple recently appointed Kevin Lynch, who led Apple Watch software engineering from the beginning of the product. It also hired other key figures in the automobile industry, including Ulrich Kranz, a former CEO of Canoo, an electric vehicle startup. Apple has other former Tesla executives, including Michael Schwekutsch, Tesla’s former drive train manager, and Steve MacManus, interior director. Reuters reported last year that Apple is developing self-driving car technology and is making efforts to produce passenger cars equipped with its innovative battery technology with the goal of 2024.
